A new paradigm for analysis of MPEG compressed videos
نویسندگان
چکیده
The increasing use of multimedia streams nowadays necessitates the development of ef®cient and effective methodologies for manipulating databases storing these streams. Moreover, content-based access to multimedia databases requires in its ®rst stage to parse the video stream into separate shots then apply a method to summarize the huge amount of data involved in each shot. This work proposes a new paradigm capable of robustly and effectively analyzing the compressed MPEG video data. First, an abstract representation of the compressed MPEG video stream is extracted and used as input to a neural network module (NNM) that performs the shot detection task. Second, we propose two adaptive algorithms to effectively select key frames from segmented video shots produced by the segmentation stage. Both algorithms apply a two-level adaptation mechanism in which the ®rst level is based on the dimension of the input video ®le while the second level is performed on a shot-by-shot basis in order to account for the fact that different shots have different levels of activity. Experimental results show the ef®ciency and robustness of the proposed system in detecting shot boundaries and ̄ashlights occurring within shots and in selecting the near optimal set of key frames (KFs) required to represent each shot. # 2002 Elsevier Science Ltd. متن کاملReal-time and Automatic Close-up Retrieval from Compressed Videos
In this paper, we propose a thorough scheme, by virtue of camera zooming descriptor with two-level threshold, to automatically retrieve close-ups directly from MPEG compressed videos based on camera motion analysis. In the retrieval process, we build camera-motionbased semantic retrieval. To improve the coverage of the proposed scheme, we investigate close-up retrieval in all kinds of videos. E...
متن کاملFast Scene Change Detection Using Direct Feature Extraction from MPEG Compressed Videos
In order to process video data efficiently, a video segmentation technique through scene change detection must be employed. Many of advanced video applications require manipulations of compressed video signals. So, the scene change detection process is achieved by analyzing the video directly in the compressed domain, thereby avoiding the overhead of decompressing video into individual frames i...
متن کاملObject tracking in surveillance videos using compressed domain features from scalable bit-streams
Recent developments in the video coding technology brought new possibilities of utilising inherently embedded features of the encoded bit-stream in applications such as video adaptation and analysis. Due to the proliferation of surveillance videos there is a strong demand for highly efficient and reliable algorithms for object tracking. This paper presents a new approach to efficient compressed...
متن کاملColor Descriptors from Compressed Images
The success of international standardization of image compression techniques resulted in a consequent increase in the number of images and videos in various media publications, web publications, etc. There was a need for a system to classify and manage the content of those compressed images and videos. The visual descriptors describe characteristics such as color, shape, texture, motion, etc. C...
